Using Keywords For Site Optimisation
Apr 19th, 2009 by jayrob
After designing your site and gathering your keywords hey should be injected into the relevent places of your pages for optimum potentcy ie, Page Names: Rather than using names such as ‘index1 or product1′ use a keyword within the page name.
Page Title: This is by far the most important element of your page for keyword optimisation. Not only should keywords appear in the title, but they shouldappear nearer the front of the title. The title is the text that appears at the top of the browser.
H1,2,3 Title Tags: In addition to the page title contaning keywords, the actual title that describes the main content is also critical, as search engines place more importance on text within title tags.
Page Content: Much of your content will already contain the keywords you have harvested, but their placement within the page can make all the difference. In addition to keywords appearing in the page title and header tags they should also appear near the top, middle and bottom of your page. Pages as arule of thumb should contain at least 300 words with a keyword ratio of 3-6%.
Hyperlink Text: So our main text is now in good shape, but what about links in and out of each page? Instad of having ‘click here’ replace it with a keyword.
Remember that different pages will be optimised for different keywords, So repeat the steps for each page.
