Get More Links To Your Site
Apr 9th, 2009 by jayrob
One of the first filters a search engine applies when searching for results is whether the page in question has quality links coming into it. It is surprisingly easy to see and check which sites link to yours or competitors sites by simply typing link:yourdomainname.com into yahoo search engine or use the free Link Popularity Check at www.checkyourlinkpopularity.com
Swapping Links
The first place to look for incoming links is through people you know. This generally falls into three categories: customers, suppliers and complimenting businesses and websites. Offer an exchange of links between your sites and explain the benefits that will be achieved by doing this.
Agree to be a case study for suppliers in exchange for a link or if you are already writing case studies for your customers, ask for a reciprocal link ( as you are probably already linking to them).
If you have any mutual beneficial relationships with vendors serving the same customer base ( but not selling the same products), see if you an get links from their sites. Remember getting links from sites that are in the same industry will be treated as more important by the search engines.
Leave comments on blog posts, take part in forums, discussion groups and write articles containing your site URL. But remember without links to your site it will always be seen as a minnow in comparison to some of the larger fish in your industrial pond. Keep an eye on how you stand in comparison with your competitors for quality rather than quantity in-bound links.
